This Weeks Shopping!

First of all I must beg your forgiveness for the blurry picture. For the first time (probably ever) I only took one picture, then I scurried about putting everything away before loading it on the computer and taking a good look. If I had it in me I would take everything back out and do another picture, but that sounds even more crazy than unloading all these things from the grocery bags and setting them up for the picture in the first place instead of just putting them away. Nope... not gonna do it!

Included in this picture is our CVS and Rite-Aid purchases too. Note that the candy is opened already again. :) Yum!

Our total at Giant (our closest grocery store) was $36.60, and put together with the CVS and Rite-Aid purchases (after the rebates come back), that means we spent a total of $38.52 this week on groceries and household items (including diapers for the week! ~ I just can't get over that part!) I'd say that isn't too bad. We did add several things on at the end of our shopping trip that put us over our planned $35 (or less), but I am not sorry we did as they are comfort items for my throat. :) Here's what we did:

  • $2.19 ~ Wheat Flour (not on sale, but we were out)
  • $10 ~ 10 bags of Malt o Meal Cereal (we didn’t plan this, but couldn’t pass it up) Saved $10.90
  • $2.18 ~ 2 Cans of Campell’s Healthy Choice Cream of Mushroom Soup (not on sale)
  • $4.00 ~ 8 Navel Oranges (on sale again 4/$2 ~ saved $3.92)
  • $1.49 ~ Asparagus (on sale for $1.99/lb ~ saved $1.50)
  • $2.99 ~ Strawberries (DH loves these) (on sale ~ saved $1)
  • $5.55 ~ Gallon Sherbert (splurged here, but I’ve been sick with this throat thing and it feels sooo good!)
  • $2.78 ~ OJ concentrate (barely on sale, but wanted for same reason as above)
  • $2.65 ~ Yeast (on sale… saved $.18… but I had 2 $.45/1 coupons which doubled (well, they were both supposed to, but I just noticed that only one of them did)… so, I saved $1.54)
  • $1.39 ~ Sour Cream (not on sale, but cheaper than the sale brand)
  • $7.34 ~ 2 Gallons of store brand Milk (not on sale)
  • Used a $5.00 off coupon that printed last week

    Total Before Savings: $60.85
    Total Savings: $24.25
    OOP = $36.60

Ah... don't you just love good deals? :) (and aren't soup prices ridiculous? :) )

Hey, depending on how close to the Carlisle/Newville area you are - there's am Amish-run "bent and dent" store called BB's in Newville, (actually, it's in Newburg) - we shop there when there are no good sales in the regular stores. Anyway, if you are interested, you can e-mail me at appalinza (at) pa (dot) net for more details/directions.

Thanks for your recent comment!

Oh my goodness, Harrisburgian here! How weird is this!

Anywho, just wanted to tell you, it's best to drink regular OJ, not from concentrate. Tastes better too!
