"I want to share with you Mommy"

So cute... right? Tornado has begun saying this pretty regularly. Sometimes he includes Sweet Pea too. The trick is, he's got the whole concept backward. The occasions when he says "I want to share with you Mommy", he doesn't have anything to share... I do. What he is really saying is "I want you to share with me Mommy." :) It's pretty funny.

The trick of it is that he doesn't quite understand why it doesn't work. He get's the concept of sharing to a point. When he won't share with Sweet Pea I generally ask him if he is being selfish or sharing and he changes his tune to "I'm sharing", and then shares with her. (This comes in conjunction with talking about what it means to be selfish... at least on a two year old level.)

He thinks it goes both ways though... when she has something he wants, he commands her to "share with me [Sweet Pea]", and then complains to me that he wants to "share with her" when I ask why he has just ripped a toy from her hands and caused her to scream. **Sigh**

Oh the joys of training little ones. :) I hope you can smile today in your training!

Sounds so, so familiar, especially the part about ripping a toy from another hands in the effort to "share!" Thanks for the laugh!
